Globe Explorer

About this game

Globe Explorer is a geography sandbox and a quiz in one. A 3D Earth is drawn in your browser from public country-outline data, and you spin it, zoom it and pick countries off it — with a mouse, with pinch-and-drag hand tracking, or by turning your head in face mode.

Explorer mode is the map half. Hover a country for its name, select it to list its major cities, and for the 50 countries in the quiz set the panel also shows its flag, its continent and its capital. Amber dots mark those cities on the globe as it turns. The panel lists those cities — 1,785 of them across 160 countries — and for the 50 countries in the quiz set an Explore Country button trades the globe for a flat, zoomable map of that nation alone, capital picked out in gold and 217 landmarks pinned across the set. A satellite toggle swaps the drawn map for real Earth imagery.

Quiz mode is the test. It highlights one country in orange and offers four names, usually neighbours from the same continent so guessing is hard. You get ten questions and fifteen seconds each; a right answer is 100 points plus a bonus for answering fast, and your best run is kept on your own device. The pool is 50 countries spread across every continent; pick any of them in Explorer afterwards to see its capital city, from Ottawa and Brasília to Naypyidaw and Wellington.

Mouse & Click mode needs no webcam at all, which makes the whole thing usable on a classroom projector or a locked-down school laptop. If you do pick hand or face tracking, the video is processed locally in your browser and never uploaded — the privacy page sets out what is stored. The how to play guide walks through every control.
